Is this problem somehow specific to my configuration, or will this be changed with the next update?

Or do i have to comment out that portion to the code after every update?

It seems this is a problem on your side. You can disable my plugin and do test with native woo price filter

As it turned out this problem arose due to the missing woocommerce theme support.
Just added add_theme_support( ‘woocommerce’ ); to the functions.php

Now everything works fine.

It was also not working when i tried to use Free version.
