Switching to translated post directly
-
Hi Chouby and co,
I am currently using Polylang to handle multiple translations of my comic website. I currently support 10 languages.
My question today is about the behaviour of Polylang when users use the ‘flag dropdown’ (top right-hand corner of my website) to change the language.
Currently whenever users change the language, they are taken to the homepage for that language.
e.g. Let’s say a user is reading a specific page of my English website: my Rat Park comic. If they use the flag dropdown to change the language to French, the user will be taken to the /fr/ homepage for my website.
My question is: Is there a way that I can set Polylang to take users to the translated version of the page that they are currently reading?
In other words, to take users from the English Rat Park post to the French Rat Park post, whenever the language is changed whilst the user is on that particular page.
I think is would probably be a better user experience for my readers, who presumably want to instantly get a translation of the page that they are currently reading.
Perhaps users can be taken to the homepage for the language if there is no relevant translation for the specific page that the user is currently reading. For example, my website does not feature a Chinese translation of the Rat Park comic. So perhaps people changing the language to Chinese whilst on the Rat Park page, can be taken to the Chinese language homepage for my site.
Please let me know if this is currently possible via Polylang’s settings.
