• What’s the best way to “redesign” a wordpress site.

I want to switch to a new theme, but it’s going to take me a few days to get the pages in order and all that. How can I do this behind the scenes so that our users can use the current version of the site while I work out all the details on the new version?

I saw “theme test drive” plugin but that doesn’t work because I need to change page order, etc. It prevents the users from seeing the new site, but me changing around the navigation and pages, etc. will still effect the old site.

How can I work on the new theme without disturbing the old one?

I would think there’s an easier way?

Maybe I can just install wordpress in a subdomain like redesign.site.com, import a backup, redesign it, and export to current site??

yup, if you find that to be easier, it works as well
    subdomain or subdirectory

    test.domain.com or domain.com/test

I used to do it that way…..but use a dev server now…

I use wampserver, and it took all of 5 minutes to get running with WP installed….

Its all amatter of preference really
