Switching languages brings user to home page

I’m currently setting up Polylang on my website (english/french) and I’ve noticed switching the language always brings the user back to the home page.. Is this normal behaviour? Is there anyway to correct it?

I am using a static home page and have permalinks set to /%postname%/ custom structure.
