• I would like to switch from my paid wordpress website hosted through siteground, back to a free www.remarpro.com site. I understand that I would probably lose my URL, which is fine, but I no longer need to monetize via a paid wordpress site. How do I go about switching?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I am trying to export the content of my www.remarpro.com site. I get an error when I try to export that says: “The XML file cannot be opened because there is no available data view (XSLT)” Details: Unspecified error. Location Line 26, Column 1

    Hello @carlyncultivates,

    Ivan Atanasov from SiteGround here.

I checked and was not able to locate a Support Ticket or chat session where you are reporting this issue.

If you are facing problems with exporting your WordPress website data, please post a Support Ticket from your SiteGround User Area so our Support Team can help.

Also, Judging from the type of error message you provided here it is also possible that you are trying to open a successfully created and downloaded XML file on your local computer (possibly a Mac). If this is the case and you created and downloaded an XML file, I would recommend trying to import it in the desired location/host in order to check it’s validity.

Ya @carlyncultivates, you’ve successfully downloaded the export file, but are then getting that error when trying to open the file (because your computer doesn’t know how to open it).
Instead of trying to open the file, you just need to SAVE IT. Save it somewhere you’ll remember (eg your desktop) because you’ll need it when uploading it to WordPress.com.

Also, I wrote a tutorial about migrating from self-hosted to .com here: https://cmljnelson.wordpress.com/2018/08/11/migrating-from-self-hosted-site-to-wordpress-com/ which might be useful to you.
