• Hi! One week ago, I tried moving the content over from avltest.com to whoismrre.com. I had been building the site on the former domain, and wanted to move it over to the latter, and finish building on that.

I called GoDaddy (my hosting service) for assistance, and they linked me to this:
    https://www.godaddy.com/help/changing-your-wordpress-domain-name-6495?v=1

When I did what it said, it redirected the domain from avltest.com to whoismrre.com without moving any content over. I switched it back so I could re-access the content from avltest.com. Now, I can’t access either site’s backend (and the password resets don’t work), and avltest.com still redirects to whoismrre.com — a blank site.

It’s been one week! Anyone know how to fix this??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi Andrew,
Those instructions cover what the name points to, not the contents of your site. To put the files into the new domain name, you have to go into the cpanel for your avltest.com site then move them into your whoismrre.com site.
In WordPress there are several plugins to help you do that – can you login to your dashboard? To get into your dashboard, if you know your login details, in the top toolbar type in your site name followed by wp-login (so https://www.whoismrre.com/wp-login ) . If you can do that, go to the plugin section, click add new & put migrate into the search bar. I use Duplicator, but there are several available. The help documentation in duplicator is extensive, and I’m sure the others will be too – and youtube is definitely your friend when you want help with using any of those plugins. Watch a couple of tutorials first then decide which one suits you best.
If you need help to access your cpanel, I would contact godaddy again and be very detailed about your issues. I don’t know what their support service is like but I hope you get this resolved soon.
    Best of luck!

Hi @rosemusic, thank you for that. When I’m at the home page for the phpMyAdmin, what do I do to remove the 301 redirect?
