Switching between Visual / Text Tab Inserts invisible span

  • We’ve disabled all plugins and caching and tried to reinstall WP through ftp.

    When we type something in the visual editor and then click on the Text tab, it inserts the following:

    <span style="display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;" data-mce-type="bookmark" class="mce_SELRES_start">?</span>

    and then when switching back to Visual it erases what we wrote. But then when we switch back to the Text tab, the span I pasted above keeps getting appended to the one already there.

    Someone please help? Is this a bug in 4.9.1?

    It sounds like an option from your theme; which theme are you using?

    It’s called Business Solutions but it’s jot available anymore.

    The issue only happened after we upgraded to the latest.

    I’m pretty sure it’s not a theme issue. Help? I’m at my wit’s end.
