I switched about a month ago to GA4 for my analytics and have watched the drop off in SiteKit which has now flat-lined. This is not consistent with Analytics which is actually showing an uptick in traffic.

Even though GA4 is enabled in SiteKit, I suspect the Dashboard report may be showing the old UA data which has understandably dropped off – but there seems to be no way to override this.

Is there a way of forcing SiteKit to stop using UA, and use GA4 data instead. Alternatively, can we get a drop-down selector and force a default to whichever method is being used. Thanks

Hi @timgurney thanks a lot for getting in touch. Currently, Site Kit only supports the display of UA(Universal Analytics) data and not yet GA4 within it’s dashboards. You can find out more information on this in our Using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) guide.

Here you will also find our GitHub issue for further GA4 work so please feel free to follow this for future updates on GA4 within Site Kit.

You can quickly jump to your Analytics account from the Site Kit dashboard by clicking on the Source: Analytics quick link which will take you to your account where you will be able to view your GA4 data.

This is why the data in your Site Kit dashboard isn’t as you expect and will be only showing the UA data currently. You can add a UA code to the site and link this to your GA4. You can do this with the GA4 setup assistant.

Hope this helps to answer your question but let me know if I can help with anything else.

When this Plugin will support GA4?

This is really annoying, that modern techniques are not supported.

@chilltec As mentioned above the work to support GA4 reporting in Site Kit is ongoing and can be followed here: https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/2220. I can’t give you a timeframe for this but please feel free to follow the GitHub issue for updates.
