• When we started using Events Manager, we didn’t know about No-User Booking mode. We primarily use bookings for one weekly event that people attend once and once only. As a result, we now have several thousand user accounts in the system that are basically useless.

We’d like to switch to no-user booking, but are wondering what the ramifications might be. For our events that already have bookings associated with user accounts, what would happen when we switch? And what would happen if we purged a user associated with a past booking?

Also, I understand that no-user booking mode uses a dummy account. What does that mean for performance? When we open registration, there may be hundreds of people attempting to register at the same time.

  • In earlier versions of Events Manager a dummy account was required for No-User Booking Mode, but that’s not needed any more.

If you’re still using a version of the plugin that has a dummy user account setting in the No-User Booking Mode panel, I’d recommend upgrading the plugin before activating that mode.

Other than that, there are no performance issues or problems associated with switching account modes.

    Thank you.

We have the latest version of Events Manager installed, I believe (Version 5.8.1.3) and we also have Events Manager Pro (Version 2.5.1).

I got the information about the dummy account from the documentation.

So if I switch modes, all of the existing bookings will remain intact, and the no-user booking mode applies for any future bookings?

the latest EM and EMpro dev versions are 5.8.2.1 and 2.5.1.1 – https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/upgrade-dev-version/

also, with the latest EM/EMpro dev versions you don’t need to assign dummy users to no-user booking mode since it is already removed due to reported issues when you accidentally deleted the dummy user account.
