    Please,
I’m trying to move “Google Anylytics” from one G-account to another. I have connected all the Site kit features (Search, Tag manager, Site speed) except Analytics. I keep getting this message:

“Error: We’ve detected there’s already an existing Analytics tag on your site (ID UA-********-8), but your account doesn’t seem to have access to this Analytics property. You can either remove the existing tag and connect to a different account, or request access to this property from your team.”

I have removed my website from the “old” google analytics account and have added it to new one, but G-Site Kit jut will not connect to “new” Google analytics.

    Any help Please ?

    Karl.
p.s. I have disconnected all the accounts, connected them again, reset the plugin, uninstall the plugin, re-install it,… nothing helped.

Hello @karl1972 thanks for getting in touch. This message can be displayed for a number of reasons such as another plugin placing an old Analytics snippet or a manually placed snippet for an old account or by another admin of the site if there is one.

The best place to start would be to find this snippet and see if we can identify how it has been placed. Could you please provide your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.

Once we can identify the snippet causing this message to display we can go through the options to fix this so that you can connect your Analytics module.

    Thank You Adam.
I will now send it via that form.
    Kind regards,

@karl1972 Thanks for sharing the information. I can see reference in your source code to an Analytics UA code ending ‘839-8’. I presume that this is not the correct one you wish to use.

Could you first try resetting your Site Kit following the steps in this guide. Once reset try your set up once more to see if you still get the same message when trying to connect your Analytics module.

Let me know how you get on with this.

    Adam,
Yes that code is from my another Google account.
I just reseted the plugin again.
    Again, same problem.!?
    Kind regards,
    Karl.

@karl1972 thanks for trying this and sorry to hear it hasn’t fixed the issue. It looks like the UA code could be placed as part of your Tag Manager setup.

To check this could you follow the steps below:

    1. Go to https://tagmanager.google.com/.
    2. Select the account and container name for your site.
    3. Open the Tags option.
    4. Check for any Google Analytics tags.

If you find one then you can remove/delete this if you wish to. If you can’t find an Analytics tag then it would worth ruling out any potential plugins that may be placing this.

Check all plugin settings you have active for any Analytics settings that may be placing the UA code ending ‘839-8’ and remove them.

Finally, if none of the above options work then you may need to remove a manually placed snippet from your header.php file. This is not something we can provide steps on as it falls out of the scope of the Site Kit support but your hosting provider or website admin should be able to help you with this.

Let me know how you get on with the options above.

    Adam, You are an angel.
That tag manager thing is very confusing for me, but I went plugin by plugin and tried to reconnect Google analytics.
I yes, I found one which was in the way. Site kit says I’m connected now and I hope it will stay that way.

    Thank You for Your time.
    Karl.

@karl1972 Really glad to hear you managed to find the cause. Out of interest what plugin was the cause?

I will mark this topic as resolved but please don’t hesitate to reach out if you experience any further issues in future with your Site Kit.

    Adam,
    it was Rank Math.
Also, can You recommend a plugin (some way) to reduce PNG and JPEG sizes so the site would be faster ?
