Switch between one column and two (kill sidebar?)

    One thing I can’t get my head around is how you turn off the side bar on certain pages. For example in my gallery I would like to have thumbnail images contained on a page with the side bar, but when clicking on a thumbnail the user is taken to a page containing the large scale image on a page/post that spans the entire width of the page where there is no sidebar.

    Any help appreciated as this is holding up the design of my site!

    Sorry – to make this more simple what I am asking is this:

    Is it not possible, when creating a page or post, to just say ‘use template A for this page’ or ‘use template B for this page’?
