I too had problem with the Swedish characters, but just using them in captions, not in content nor in title. This was because the content was, when checked for captions, coded as html-characters and a Swedish letter “?” was translated to å (as an example) why postie thought that the caption ended after & and Before 229;.
Example:
#img1 caption=’123456789?1213’# would be converted to a caption “12345678” since the string was converted to “123456789å1213”. About the rest of the caption (“229;1213”) will end up in a new paragraph below image…
I then tried to change the image_place_holder to <img%> instead, but the caption-function was not that kind… hardcoded “#”…
So, I Went back with #img%# as a Place holder and changed in postie-functions:
row 2361: if (preg_match("/$img_placeholder_temp caption=(['\"].*?['\"]</strong`>)#/i”, $content, $matches)) {
to match the actual start and end of the caption text.
Also, I found that there was a nother issue a few rows down:
Row 2375:
$imageTemplate = mb_str_replace(‘{CAPTION}’, $caption, $imageTemplate);
`where $caption previously was translated (again) to html-chars, making å translated to å and an excpected ? was å instead…
I have tried this on UTF-8 website from an Android phone with Kaiten email and in Windows with Outlook 2013. WP 3.8 and Postie 1.5.17.
