Swapping out a plugin like this discourages plugin use

As many others have pointed out, my first reaction to this complete replacement of a trusted plugin, was the site had been hacked. Awful introduction to company taking over plugin. Diminished any desire to want to know more about them. This should have been implemented in an opt-in manner.
