• Hello
I swapped one word in the title of the post, second word became first word, and I added 1 button in the text and 4 completely different related posts are being suggested.

Beside this not making any sense whatsoever,I have a feeling this can potentially be bad for SEO if the 4 posts I was linking to previously were benefiting from those internal link, and considering I went and updated 50+ posts on our website, your plugin basically mixed up all the internal linking hopefully harmlessly.

I want to find a way to lock related posts on some posts, is this a potential customization I could pay for?

Or do you know other similar plugins that look identical to yarpp and where I can lock the related posts? Please don’t just link to the plugin directory, I can do that myself. I am asking for a specific name.

@deon-b we have a few questions before we provide you a solution :

    • Can you show some examples by giving us links to the pages or screenshots?
    • How did you integrate the plugin on the page? Is it using shortcode or is it the auto-populated related posts on the bottom of each page content?

    Thank You,
    Aslam

    Hi Aslam,

It’s difficult to give you samples because I don’t have screenshots of related posts under old copies of articles, but I would not come here and start a thread for nothing. I have been using this plugin for almost a decade, and I am surprised I never even noticed this weird behavior and mostly I wonder how many times search engines were confused about me keeping changing internal links.

About question 2, it’s the auto-populated related posts at the bottom of each page content.

    Here we go,
I got your example, just now as I was editing one article.

I changed the button from “Check Price” to “See Price on the Official Website”
and see what happens. Note: Everything else in the article is identical, I only changed the wording in 1 button.

    Before:

    related posts:

After I change the wording in 1 button and nothing else:

    related posts:

Listen before you even go down the route to install-uninstall and all that stuff, I am not gonna do it. So could you please address my questions in my OP please? These:

@deon-b Thanks for the screenshots and further clarification.

    Answers to your questions:
    1. The plugin doesn’t provide a feature to lock specific related posts on some posts.
    2. No, we do not know any other plugin that provides such a feature.

    Hello
You knew answer 1 and 2 even before I shared the screenshots. So why did you make me bother to provide this additional information for you if anyway there was no hope in the answers?

@deon-b we have a few questions before we provide you a solution

I answered your questions and provided screenshots.

    Where is the solution?

And, does that look normal behavior to you? Changing 1 word in a button, and completely mess up related posts?

@deon-b sorry to trouble you with the screenshot. Actually when you said “lock related posts on some posts”, I misunderstood it with something else but I had a doubt so to have more clarification, I asked you for screenshots.

    Hello,

    1) Do you have any solution to propose?

    2) Can I prevent to plugin from showing related posts on some specific pages? if I disable by tag, does it prevent related posts from showing on articles with that tag, or does it prevent articles from that tag to show in related posts?

    3) Does that look normal behavior to you? Changing 1 word in a button, and completely mess up related posts? What’s the reason for this?
