    Hello!

I’ve searched through the internet and through the questions here, but I am still not understanding if it is possible to have a small preview/thumbnail of an SVG image showing up on the Media-Library‘s or the Media-Assistant‘s main page (the one where the basic listing of our images appear in columns and where the first column on the left is a tiny preview of the image).

My SVG images appear on the frontend, but not on the backend; what appears on the backend is the same little “Aa” icon for every svg file in the media library; they all look the same. I have so many svg icons and shapes to manage and, since I cannot see a small preview in the dashboard, I have to manage them all by using the svg file name or using Media-Assistant categories. I would like to be able to view the previews when managing them within the Dashboard. Is this possible?

    Can you help?

    best regards,
    Giovanni

Thanks for your question. SVG support, although limited, has been a part of MLA for a few releases. I just re-tested it on my system and it is working for me.

However, not all SVG files are images that can be displayed as a thumbnail in the Media/Assistant submenu table. For example, the dashicons.svg file is a collection of many small icons and, although it has an SVG extension, it does not render as an image.

The “Aa” icons you report are used for font files, although I am not sure why they are substituted for the individual files. If you can give me a link to one or more of your files I can do some investigating. If I can find a way to extend SVG support to your files I will add that to my next MLA version. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

It has been a month since my last post and I have not seen anything further on this topic. I assume you have found a solution to your SVG preview issues.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding SVG handling in MLA. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.
