SVG icons not displaying

I am currently developing a new site on a dev location and have been using your xl tabs plugin but wanted to add the icons above the tab titles – which they do successfully display when it’s an actual icon from the library, but when I go to upload an svg to use for custom icons, they do not display. Can you please offer a solution or a fix?
