• Had to repeal my review after discovering the JPEG quality reduction:

I am a paying customer and have been pretty happy with the website’s service.

I do not like that the plugin reduces JPEG upload quality to 85% before optimizing. This is hard-coded and not an optional optimization.

I used to rate this plugin 4-stars, and since they made the change to optimizing new uploads in the background, I would have changed it to 5 stars, but since I discovered the pre-optimization quality setting reduction, that is enough to cut it down to 3 stars.

The plugin should bypass WordPress’s compression and use TinyPNG’s, just as if we were uploading the images to tinypng.com.

    Thanks for your positive review!

We’ve replied to your support thread, so hopefully we can find out what’s causing you to get the “Modified after compression” messages among other things.

It must be some other plugin that is changing the modification information, because it’s not happening on another site where I’ve installed the plugin.

Could very well be. Do you have any other plugins installed that are specifically targeting images, or the storage of your images?
