    Hello,
I’m starting a new style of blog post a few days a week on my website, which I’m hoping readers will like, but I don’t want to overwhelm them or get them stuck in a loop of just that style post, so I was hoping I could suppress about half of them from the related posts widget. I do still want to show the related posts for all of my posts, just not have select ones show up. Is there code I could add to individual pages to suppress them?

    Thanks,
    Emily

  • Hey Emily, thanks for reaching out, I’ll do my best to help you out, but I’m not exactly sure what you have in mind.

Do you want to edit your related posts or do you just want to prevent some of them from showing up?

The best way to prevent or block some of your blog posts to show up as related posts is to categorize them into a special, new category and then exclude that particular category (you just created) from showing up at all, in your plugin settings (here’s a screenshot I made for easier navigation).

But note that this works both ways — there will be no related posts from that excluded category, nor no related posts in that excluded category.

Is this what you had in mind or have I over-complicated myself (I tend to do that)? ?? Let me know, I’m eager to help!

Take care & have a nice day!

    Best,
    Silvo

    Hi Silvo,

Thank you so much for writing back. Your response does make sense. What I would really like would be for something like the way Pinterest “no pin” code works, where I could put code in specific posts so they would not show up in related articles, but they’d still see the related articles. Is there any way to do something like that?

    Thanks,
    Emily

Hm, yes, I can imagine what you have in mind, but I’m afraid this is (yet) not possible with our plugin. As said before, the exclusion works both ways, so it’s not possible for those excluded posts to have related posts, while not showing up as related posts.

I’m really sorry for that, wish we could help you out on this, but alas, this is not possible at the moment.

But do let me know if you have any more questions or if there’s anything not completely clear — I’ll do my best to help you out!

Take care & have a nice day!

    Best,
    Silvo
