At this point only administrator can send Emails by going to WordPress admin interface. There is no support for other users to send email at this point. Thank you.

Would you consider allowing an Editor role (a role with page editing, and user management access) to send emails? I don’t allow Administrator access for client-managed websites.

@icentrics This is definitely an interesting idea to allow other roles to have access the plugin. I will definitely consider this suggestion. Thank you for reaching out.

I would also really find this feature useful. I’d LOVE to use your plugin, but don’t love the idea of handing out admin access to my site members.

I use WordPress for a website for a barbershop choir (of around 40 people), and many of the members of the site will need to send an email to other members of the sites (by roles) but they are not technically savvy enough to be trusted with Admin access.

If editors, contributors, or even custom roles could be permitted to use the plugin, that would be fantastic.

I didn’t look hard yet – but if this plugin is open source and in a git repo somewhere, I may be able to figure out how to do a pull request…

    Thanks!

@quangdog Thank you for reaching out. You can find plugin code here https://github.com/smnbhattarai/send-users-email and please feel free to send a PR if you want. I am considering this feature addition at the moment but cannot promise any implementation timeline at the moment. Thanks.

Hi @metalfreek – my wife and I worked on adding this functionality, and have it working well. Submitted a pull request earlier this evening. Please check your git repo. Thanks!

Hi @quangdog Thank you for the PR. Please give me a week or so to review and test the MR. If everything goes well, I will merge it in and publish the new release. Thank you for your contribution.

Hey Suman – I saw a new release of your plugin, and I’d love to use it… but wanted to check on the status of the pull request (referenced above).

Hi @quangdog last release was a minor feature release. I am busy with work right now and haven’t had the time to test and review your PR. Please give me more time for this. Thanks.

Hi Suman – any updates on that pull request?

Hi @quangdog The feature is finally available. You can now select role from settings page which will have power to send email to system users. I took a slightly different approach than your PR. Sorry about not merging in your PR but your code definitely helped me a lot to add this feature faster. I am extremely grateful for your effort and time. Please test out the new feature and let me know if you find any bugs. Thanks.

Thank you! I’ll have a look at the updated plugin and let you know if I run into any issues.

Hi Suman – I’ve installed the latest version of your plugin on my dev site, and there is 1 small additional change (well, 2, really) that I’d like to request. In a nutshell: roles with permission to send email should not necessarily have permission to change the settings – only Admins should be able to do that. I’d also like to suggest a slight rearrangement of the items on the send email screen. Here is a screencast that demonstrates exactly what I’m talking about: https://boisechordsmen.com/email-roles-feedback/

Let me know if you have any questions, or if I can help in any way.

    Thank you!

@quangdog Check the new updates and let me know if new update fixes your issue. Thanks.

Thank you Suman! The latest changes are great! I’ve finally been able to update my production site with your latest plugin, and it is working well.

I only wish the subject field came after the list of roles to send to, as I have a large list of roles. I see you re-organized the list, but my list is so long that when you scroll down to type a message the subject field is moved off the top of the screen.

But I’m very grateful for your work on this, and am happily using it on my site.

    Thank you!
