• OK just thought I’d share my experience dealing with this plugin. First it’s not all bad. I liked the systems for adding venues and promoters. That part worked ok. Where I had an issue is such a basic thing. The Calendar itself when you view it would not display anything except “Unnamed Post”.

The suggestion from support was to create a staging site and test if it was caused by another plugin. To change the title. I mean come on to change the title? I thought it over and just decided it wasn’t worth dealing with since the calendar wasn’t mission critical to begin with.

How many plugins do you see where it’s unable to update the title to match the website? Other than that I liked it though so I gave it a couple stars but that one snafu was enough for me to remove it. It appears to be capable of doing a lot but I could not fix the title problem (most basic of public appearance aspects) without going through what should be a last resort process. Maybe they were just being cautious but a staging site suggestion was the wrong answer. For changing the title on the calendar that is.

So be prepared for basic things you usually take somewhat for granted to not work. If they had been able to address it and get the title of the calendar changed I would have gotten a subscription for a year on a trial basis. However as far as I’m concerned the first support issue I had wasn’t dealt with in a reasonable fashion. I don’t mind doing a staging site and testing things actually that’s not it. The issue is what it was for. The title at the top of the calendar is such a basic element and they weren’t able to provide a straightforward answer. Telling me to go into a staging environment is a bit like saying they aren’t serious about support. Because it’s the title. You probably should try to get that right you know? Or at least passably ok.

I’ve gotten used to developers who do this. Blaming other plugins for problems with their software so I’m not very keen when on such a basic element that’s apparently the go to solution. I mean why not inherit the title from the site itself at least? Maybe use the default logo? It adds a section to the customizer I noticed which is cool but nothing to edit the title of the calendar? I don’t know. It struck me as pretty short sighted whoever overlooked that. If they are doing it because it’s the free version? OK well the free version is a trial. The specific upgrade I was looking at was the Aggregator. If they can’t do the title right what’s the chance that the aggregation element will work right either? That should be a lot more complex than just editing The Title without having to delve into staging sites and editing the theme code itself. Just where the heck is it pulling the title from that it’s such a major issue?

So in short it showed promise but the issue with the title made it unuseable in a branding sense. Probably one of the most important aspects in a lot of designs. I admit maybe it’s a pet peeve but that’s why I knocked off the two stars. It might work for a lot of things if you don’t mind the apparent oversights in the design interface. The inability to use your own title and logo is just bad.
