Support of Custom Field/ACF in Customizer

    Hi Weston

    You guys did a great job with that plugin. I love it.

    What I miss is the support of displaying ACF Fields and Custom Fields in the Customizer for Posts.

    What do you think about that?

    @melstroem Thanks for the feedback.

    Custom fields are definitely possible and we’re using them actively. In the plugin itself, there are controls for manipulating the page template and the featured image. Such controls are just manipulating postmeta, and you can add any controls in the same way to manage any postmeta you want. There is a thread about this on GitHub which I provide some more details and a more fleshed-out standalone example: https://github.com/xwp/wp-customize-posts/issues/224

    As for supporting ACF, it would be up to the ACF plugin creators to create customizer support. I did create an issue to explore what it would take to add Pods support, but really this would need to be in the domain of the Pods plugin itself, or perhaps a separate “Customize Pods” plugin that bridges Pods and Customize Posts.

    You could also replace ACF with Kirki and this plugin since ACF became quite a heavy plugin that increases TTFB.
