    Hi,

I am setting up a directory website for a few businesses in Ireland.
I am trying out your Plugin before seeing whether it will work for us and purchasing add on’s.

So far I have had some problems like trying to update the map address on a listing but I just keep getting the error message
“Please choose any address of the (Dublin) city only.”
no matter what address I put in.

I have watched all your video’s on YouTube but they really only cover some setup areas.
Even one video showing you set up one listing would be a big help.

What I want to know is where do I post for support as a free user of the Plugin?

I registered on your website, went to the forum, tried to click on a Forum answer but it said I need to subscribe.

    Hi,

using the core plugin, you can create a directory for 1 single location:

GeoDirectory allows you to create a local directory based on a single location such as a street, a neighbourhood, a city.

If you try to add a listing in a location even slightly outside of the default location, it will not accept it.

You need the multilocation to create a directory with more than 1 location.

As a free user on https://wpgeodirectory.com you can only access the support forum for the core plugin. Addons forum are reserved for members.

    Thanks

    Hi Paolo,
thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
So now I am even more confused but I am sure you can clarify things!

I need to create a directory for about 100 local businesses in various locations in one city suburb about five miles square.

I am trying out your plugin, if it works well then I will buy the add ons for paid listings etc.

I installed the GeoDirectory plugin for WordPress and the Enfold compatibility plugin.

Do I need to install or buy something else for the map to allow me to assign different locations to each business or is there a map setting that I have got wrong?

    Hi,

each business can only have 1 location (address).

    Thx

    Paolo hi,
If I understood correctly – installing a wordpress site with the free GeoDirectory plugin will allow us to “list” only one business ?
    Yes/No please…

    Hi Paolo,

Yes I only want each business to have one location.
But what I want is for each business to have its own location.

Currently every time I create a new “Place” I enter a location address on the map but it keeps giving me the error message
“Please choose any address of the (Dublin) city only.”
and defaults the map pin to the exact same location for every listing.

So if I list 100 different businesses I want them to have 100 different locations on the map withing that city suburb.

Where do I set the map to allow me to have a geographical area location like a city suburb within which I can add the various locations of the different businesses?

    Hi guy1407,

no it will allow you to add as many businesses as you want in one location (city, town or village).

@markdenis, if you are getting this error:

“Please choose any address of the (Dublin) city only”.

It means that are you somehow trying to submit a listing outside the boundaries of the default city (Dublin).

To be able to do that, you will need the MultiLocation addon.

    Thx

    Hi Paolo,

trust me I am not trying to add listings outside the boundaries of the default city Dublin.

The businesses I am trying to add are all in the 5 mile square, same suburb (Terenure) of the same city (Dublin, Ireland).

But every time I try to add one I get the same error message.

“Please choose any address of the (Dublin) city only”.

When I try to move the map pin for a new “Place” it defaults back to the crossroads in the centre of the suburbs village.

I have even put in the latitude and longtitude but no joy.

    This is driving me insane…

    Hi,

could you please pass me the exact address of one of the places you are trying to add, so that I can verify?

    Thanks

    Hi Paolo,

Terenure Enterprise Centre, 17 Rathfarnham Road, Terenure, Dublin 6w, Ireland
    or
91 Terenure Road West, Dublin 6w, Ireland
    or
6 Rathfarnham Road, Terenure, Dublin 6w, Ireland

    Hi again Mark,

thanks for the extra info, that allowed me to do some tests.

Basically what’s happening here, is the consequence of the way Google Maps return informations for those addresses (a bit weird the way it treats Ireland).

Basically it is considering them part of Dublin 6W and not Dublin, considering Dublin 6W as a individual location rather than a suburb.

I’ve tried setting Dublin 6W as default location and it’s making me add a place with that address.

Again, if I try to add a place with 1 of those address in our demo with MultiLocation activated, Google Maps autocompleter will add it for Dublin 6W and will create the location Dublin 6W as a separate entity.

We just checked the rest of Ireland and all cities seems to be working that way so we should be able to add a fix. Our main developer is curently in N Irealnd. He won’t be happy until it works perfectly… ??

    We will keep you posted.

    Thanks for spotting this.

Ok, we fixed it and will be in the next version.

If you want to test the patch, copy this code and use it to replace the entire code of:

    geodirectory/geodirectory-functions/map-functions/map_on_add_listing_page.php

Let us know and thanks again!

Hi Paolo, thank you for your efforts, I went in via Ftp and replaced the code as requested.
I tried it on my listing and it worked!
    Thank You!

    Hi Paolo,

First, thanks for all the great work. I am trying to create a free directory for the boating community in Phuket, but I have the exact same problems as Mark above.

I think the issue is exactly the same. Phuket is not even half the size of Los Angeles, but each neighborhood in Phuket is listed by the government as a different “tambon” (technically “subdistrict”)…

This means I cannot create a new listing anywhere outside the tiny area set by the default location unless I call it a different “city” – which they most certainly are not, and this will certainly confuse our local users.

Anyhoo, just FYI. This issue is the same all throughout Thailand.

It would be great if there were a patch for this, as mentioned – it would be a nationwide in one fell swoop ??

I the meantime, I’ll keep chipping away to see if I can make it work. I love the plugin and can’t wait to get it up and running here. The maps feature and get directions is critical here, as most places are hard to find unless you’ve already been there…

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hay,
it really depends on how Google Maps API returns data for that area. Could you please provide a couple of examples of Phuket districts? With that information we may be able to find a workaround.

    Thanks
