    Hello

I’m looking for a schema plugin and this one looks promising. However I don’t see any support for recipes and WooCommerce in the feature list.

On a WooCommerce webshop correct schema is crucial for ratings, prices, stock, making it show up in Google Shopping and more, and for a recipe site tagging the ingredients, cooking time required etc. is also crucial.

Is this plugin supporting all those schema types?

Hi, the plugin’s job is to provide schema.org markup for a basic site, or a blog with Articles. Other types are not supported, and mostly it will not be supported in the future.

The reason why? It’s to keep the plugin maintainable, and useful for any type of site that has a blog or a news site.

However, the functionality can be extended, but you will have to go through code yourself and figure it out.

To get you started with code, there are a couple of extensions that you can look at:

    1- Schema Review
    2- Schema Default Image

Also there is a few examples of code snippets from the gist that maybe helpful, and the Schema plugin documentation as well.

    Good luck.

    Hi, Hesham.

That makes sense. Thanks for your clarification and directions.

    Idea:

Make small optional module plugins for Schema like the review plugin. A module for WooCommerce, event sites, recipe sites and more.

In that way you could keep the main plugin small and relevant for any site, and if anyone needs more schema, for let’s say WooCommerce, they could install a module for that. ??

I am working on it, I have to make several changes to the main core Schema plugin though, but it’s going good so far. Expect some cool things to happen soon.

    Awesome! Thanks.

Hi, nice plugin, i already use it on some projects.
Just to clarify: can i use it on a WooCommerce based website?
WooCommerce already provides Schema support, but only for shop pages, and i need to use Schema markup also for pages and blog post (my WP theme is Galleria/Storefront).
    Thanks

Yes, definitely you can do that!

WooCommerce outpus Schema markup on products pages, so you can use Schema plugin to markup you other content.

If Schema will work one day on Product section, it has to offer something new, so this mostly will be done via an extension for the plugin.

I am still experimenting this option and it’s going pretty well, so keep an eye on here.

Mmmmm.. you got me thinking that I should establish a way to reach plugin users, maybe setup some email list for plugin users to update them on the progress.

    Nice idea! ??
    Thank you for your support
