Support for webp image format

  • I am evaluating this plugin for my site but am unable to use it due to lack of support for the webp image format. I understand this isn’t yet officially supported by WordPress but it is becoming more widespread on the web and supported by modern browsers today. There are various image optimization plugins available for WordPress that will generate webp as well.

    I’m hoping webp can be added to the plugin in the future as otherwise I think the plugin would be a great fit for my needs. I added a github issue requesting this feature and am posting here so others can chime in here if you’d find the feature useful.
