Support for network media storage

Hi, I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to configure the plugin to work on our multi-server setup. We have all our media hosted on a network drive accessible to each of our servers (i.e. completely separate from the wordpress directory). I’ve read the docs and tried tinkering with the filters related to upload directory but I’m not getting anywhere. If its not possible thats fine, but I just want to check I’m not missing something obvious.
