    Hello Sandrine,

How would you like those features to work together with the Lightroom? Of course the plugin would work with it but I guess you would like to use those custom taxonomies directly through Lightroom? In that case that would be quite complicated. Instead, this plugin could pick up the categories/tags or anything else set-up in the metadata of the uploaded images and manage it this way, that would be simpler and work in every case, not only with my plugin.

    Hi again,

Indeed, your plugin works really well with other plugins that can extract metada. It would have been nice to use custom taxonomies directly in Lightroom though ??

    Thanks for your answer.

Taxonomy is doable ?? How would you like (as an user) to see it working? I am trying to aggregate use case from my user to add a valuable option to the plugin ??

    Oh nice ! ??

The easiest way I can think of to implement this is to allow the user to add custom fields in the “Synchronization & Metada” tab of the Lightroom component of your plugin. Users could then associate them with the metadata of their choice in Lightroom. That solution would imply the use of another plugin to associate that custom taxonomy to attachements in WordPress.

Or your plugin could detect automatically custom taxonomy fields in the WordPress installation and show them in the “Synchronization & Metada” tab. Users could then associate them to their metada. That would also require the use of another plugin to associate custom taxonomy to attachements.

Ideally, the Lightroom component of your plugin would show automatically the custom taxonomy fields in the “Synchronization & Metada” tab, and the WordPress component would allow users to associate custom taxonomy fields to images.

Mmm, I am not sure that would be the easiest. That would be hard to see, since you would always need to check the Metadata tab for every photo, one by one. You don’t like the idea of using collections and collections sets? That would be the natural way of doing it.

Then the plugin could handle it in different way on WordPress depending on options. Nothing should be mandatory or destructive however, so whatever options I add we can always switch to another and it shouldn’t break anything. On that part, I think we agree ??

Let’s keep this thread and idea alive, it would be awesome to have more people coming here with ideas and wishes ?? Let’s find the best way to do this.
