Since Google rejects images with branding within them and our client takes the product pictures himself against a branded background (since they are refurbished items) we need to supply an alternative image to Google for the main product image.

I tried setting up a custom field using ACF but it’s not showing up in the field mapping list for g:image_link – should this be possible and if not what is the best way to achieve submitting a specific image (which might not be the main product image or part of the gallery) in the Google Feed?

  • Hi,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us.

When you use a normal input ACF field and put in the full path to your alternative image this should work. The ACF field really should show in the drop-downs. Perhaps it is named slightly different than you expect?

When you say a normal input ACF field do you mean a basic text field? The custom field I added was of type image (since that seemed to be the most relevant)

Yes thats what I meant, the ACF image field somehow only returns a string of numbers/letters when used and not the entire image path unfortunately.
