Superview Basic Setup
-
Can someone post the basics of setting up Superview, please?
I’d like to see:
1. Example of shortcode
2. Example of page on where it should be placed
3. Explanation of landing page and how that particular shortcode relates to the superview shortcode. Thanks in advance.

Superview is mailnly intented to be used as widget ( Super View Photos ).
The widget needs a landing page, a page where to display the results upon. The landing page will be automaticly created, and has by default the name Super View Photos.
All landing pages have the shortcode[wppa type="landing"][/wppa]
as content.
You can add a size likesize="450"
if you like. You can enter a shortcode on a page or post that does the same as the widget:
[wppa type="superview"][/wppa]
. You can add a size here too, if you like. The shortcode
[wppa type="landing"][/wppa]
does display nothing by itsself, but entirely relies on the arguments in the querystring, like:?wppa-album=3&wppa-slide=1&wppa-occur=1&wppa-superview=1&wppa-photo=15
A live demo is here: https://beta.opajaap.nl/
(It is a development site, so not everything may work properly, and the post may be deleted in a few days.)
I had a look at the demo site but could not find an album that’s working correctly.
I’ve added the superview shortcode as above to the page https://needlenook.com.au/super-view-photos/ but I’m afraid it does not work at all.
Perhaps I am not understanding correctly what you mean by the landing page being automatically created. You say that they will have the landing shortcode on them, and that size=”450″ may be added, but that does not make sense if the page is automatically created.
Does one create a landing page, and if so what is it called?
Regards,
Russell.
I had a look at the demo site but could not find an album that’s working correctly.
?????
Third widget area in the footer of https://wppa.opajaap.nl/ shows the widget.
It says — select an album –. Do so, e.g. select Birds, select the Thumbnails radio button and press the submit button.
You will get the page named Super View Landing page and a display of the thumbnails of the album Birds.but that does not make sense if the page is automatically created.
Yes it does make sense!
A landing page is created once, if it is there, you can edit the page, rename it, enhance the shortcode or add text before and / or after the shortcode.
It was the beta site I looked at which does not appear to work. There are popups, but those popups have no content.
A live demo is here: https://beta.opajaap.nl/I was trying to avoid using the widget in the footer as this spoils the layout of the site, which is a live client site.
I have placed the widget in the footer, but the result does not work. I first tried it with the original shortcode in https://needlenook.com.au/super-view-photos/ – [wppa type=”superview”][/wppa]
I then tried it with no shortcode at all, still no result.
Currently it has the shortcode [wppa type=”landing”][/wppa] in the landing page. As you will see, the end result is not functioning.
I fear I don’t understand the instructions.
If a landing page is created automatically, and the name of the page is *not* /super-view-photos/, what page does it create and how do I find it?
Regards,
Russell.
In your widget i select album Sirdar Charts
The thumbnails radiobutton is checked.
I press the Submit button.
I get the page named Superview Photos that displayes the thumbnail images in the selected album.
So, it works…
Same with Slidshow and all the other albums.
I do not see the problem.
I was hoping to get a result like this:
https://needlenook.com.au/superview-popup.jpgCan only assume I’ve got the wrong impression of what superview is designed to do. How is the lightbox style image created in the screenshot I’ve linked to, can you tell me?
Regards,
Russell.
I may have found the answer elsewhere on the forums:
If you install the current version (4.6) lightbox is included in the plugin. You only need to set the lightbox keyname to wppa IX-A6
Table IX J3 says Lightbox keyname The identifier of lightbox.
Still not obvious what to do.Another page suggests “I had VI-8 (“Slideshow fullsize link”) set to “No link at all” and it needed to be set to “Lightbox”
The location of that setting is now VI-B5a,,c,d but changing that to lightbox had no effect on the superview galleries or the existing galleries.
You should NOT install a lightbox plugin, its all embedded into wppa+.
Table IX-J3 should be set to the default: wppa
You can set the links in Table VI under Link Type to lightbox wherever you want.
This should work.
Ok I have the lightbox working. I understand now that superview and lightbox are two different functions.
Here are the settings I’ve used to make it work.
VI-B5a,,c,d set to “Lightbox”.
and
VI-B 2a,b,c,d Set this to lightboxthis worked, but lightbox does not show full IPTC and is black.
I imagine if I dig around I’ll find settings for the lightbox colours. Are there separate settings for the Lightbox IPTC as well?
Thanks so much for all your help thus far, really appreciate it.
You can not show full iptc, but you can include iptc tags in descriptions and display the descriptions in lightbox.
See Table II-G where you can enable the display of descriptions dependant of the origin of the lightbox display ( the type of image where the lightbox link comes from ), and https://wppa.opajaap.nl/iptc-and-exif-data/wppaspec/ab60/pt2176/cv0/oc1 for the use of exif and iptc tags in descriptions.
