• Tried to transfer a website from one hosting plan to another and gave error after many hours of processing (“Failed to complete WordPress installation on the destination server. Destination responded with ‘ERROR: Failed to download WordPress core’. Please retry with another transfer token.”)

P.S. after some testings and although the plugin works slowly, the operations complete smoothly. Therefore i vhange my rating.

P.S.2 They have website transfer with “change ownership” that works immidiately and guess what! it doesn’t work between hosting plans and you can transfer one website per day. Restrictions so you have to renew a plan instead of buy a new cheaper one. Beware of those things before joining

    Hello @burst24,

The ‘ERROR: Failed to download WordPress core’. Please retry with another transfer token.” error usually means that there is another WordPress installation in the chosen destination or something similar that may prevent the transfer from completing.

I would recommend you make sure that the destination folder is empty and retry with another token. In case this does not resolve the issue, you are welcome to post a support ticket through your SiteGround Client Area so we can take a look at the exact issue that occurs.

    Best Regards,

Then add a simple warning message. For example “needs an empty folder” or “needs an empty installation” etc. So the user doesn’t wait a day for the migration to fail.
