Since updating to Wordfence 7.10.3, I noticed that the Immediately block the IP of users who try to sign in as these usernames displays the super admin as being blocked. However, as a super admin, I am able to log into the website without issue. I didn’t add my username to that field. I removed my username from that field but cannot save the change. Can you please explain why this is happening?

Hi @ericreynolds007, thanks for reaching out to us!

I’ve honestly not seen Wordfence add any users, regardless of access level, to that field without deliberate user action. We have seen hosts in the past enforce certain settings values like their own IP addresses to Allowlisted IP addresses that bypass all rules, but not specific usernames.

Does the failure to save the changes occur with an error message or does it refresh as normal and simply return the username? If there are seemingly no errors, it could be worth testing again with Wordfence as the only plugin enabled to see if something else is affecting the save operation. If you’re able to save under these conditions, try again after reenabling any plugins that may affect users like an online store or user-management plugin to see if they might be involved.

It may be worth opening a support ticket with your host in the mean time too, just to see if they have any policies around Wordfence that might explain the username being added here.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

Hello Peter. Thank you for the response. The issues have worsened. All 113 of my client users are now experiencing them. I recorded a video to show you what is happening. I also thoroughly tested potential conflicts with other plugins and themes. No luck.

I’ve also asked INAP, who provides my agency dedicated hosting and support, to look at the matter. They see nothing wrong on the server side.

Please let me know how I can send you the video. It’s brief. Thank you. ?? Eric

    Hi @ericreynolds007,

You can send the video to wftest @ wordfence . com – just ensure you add your forum username to the subject line, and reply here when you’ve sent it so I can take a look.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
