    I have a blog for which I set “For each article in a feed, show” as “Summary” several hours ago, but people looking at the blog get the full text for every posting, not a summary. I am using the “Ecclesiastical” template.

    What may be the cause of this problem? I did not have it with the “Church” template, but this setting should surely apply irrespective of the template.

  • Hello Steven,

    I’m still working on it from the last time you mention this to me by email, hopefully I can get it done this week.

    I apologized for the inconvenience

    Hey @steveninaus!

    Not sure if you were able to get this resolved but I did want to share a little bit on here about the issue you are experiencing. This in particular:

    I set “For each article in a feed, show” as “Summary”

    This setting, odd as it sounds, has nothing to do with the active theme and how it displays your content. This is actually a setting for RSS feeds. Yes, it threw me off the first time as well. If you are looking to change that behaviour you can do so by using a child theme and using the appropriate template file.

    If this is something you really want to change let us know and we can help with that!

    Thanks for the comment Jose. I started the blog using the “Church” theme, which displayed a summary of the text, along with a “read more” label, when I had made “Settings” show summary, but when I changed over to the Ecclesiatical theme it didn’t. Benjamin is working on getting the theme to display as I need.

    The only problem I had with the summary display in “Church” was that superscripts (showing the bible verse in the passage I used) were displayed as ordinary numbers, making reading the text a little more difficult.

    @steveninaus

    I have updated the theme to support excerpt, i hope this is what you wanted as you mentioned. Let me know if you have any other concerns.

    Thanks

    Great work Benjamin. The summary works well, so readers won’t be faced with the full length of my posts on first appearance, and will be able to choose which reflection to read. I’m still new to blogging to I’m learning how to use the tools and what I can get out of available templates etc. The support is very much appreciated.
