Suma Subcription plug-in & others

  • I am developing a site using wordpress, that will eventually require a subscription system for people to pay to access the site after a free period has expired. I believe the specialized content will be of some value to the right people.
    I would be interested to hear replies from anyone who has a paid subscription system successfully installed and operational on their site. This includes paid systems like ‘Suma’, which is advertized in a few posts on this forum, as well as free plug-ins.

    I’d love to hear about this as well… I’m considering Suma, mainly for one feature: to be able to charge a one-time fee and begin a subscription (of less money) at the same time.

    So far, Suma is the best-looking option; from what I’ve found, no other plugin can do that. You’d have to go with 1ShoppingCart, or PayPal’s Pro system, both of which are $30/month.

    Any users/developers out there with some insight?

    I am currently integrating Suma into our environment and it’s really great. The registration interface takes a bit of hacking to work it into your design, but overall it’s pretty smooth.

    My only issues with it are that users who sign up don’t get an invoice, and I can’t login to the admin area of my site and get a quick list of what users signed up for what subscriptions.

    Other than that, it’s quick & easy integration with Paypal and making new subscriptions are very easy.
