I think your images could benefit from having text overlays, either a static one that’s always showing, or dynamic overlays that only show when you hover over the image.
This will allow you to link to the corresponding album pages, portfolios, or landing pages describing the photo shoot or your services.
The CSS3 Image & Text Overlay plugin does such thing, but it hasn’t been updated in over 2 years and I have not used it personally, so I can’t give you any advice. Might be worth checking out.
Envira Gallery is in my opinion the best gallery plugin available for WordPress and it does allow you to add overlays to images and link images to a lightbox that shows a larger version of the image, or link to other pages with more galleries. This way you can build a gallery index that links to all of your individual albums.
The free version is limited to 5 galleries, but the pro version is worth every penny. The same developer also created the Soliloquy slider plugin which is also my favorite for creating slides.
