I think you’re off to a good start. It’s obvious that you are thinking about content first, and that’s important. It looks like you may already have a good eye for color and contrast. I think if you make your changes slowly and let things evolve naturally, you’ll be able to quickly discover what “works” for you and what won’t. Pages and posts take off quickly once you get started.

One suggestion I might make ( if I’m viewing your source code correctly ) is that you might consider continuing your theme development and customizations using a Child Theme, rather than the TwentyTen theme. The reason being, that any modifications you make to the TwentyTen theme, could (will) be overwritten when you upgrade WordPress. In any case, be sure to make a local backup copy of your customizations just for safe keeping.

You’re doing some things right: in the realm of blogging, content is king. Keep that up, don’t worry too much about traffic, it will come naturally.

I’d also take a look at your theme — it does look a bit plain. Keep it simple, but make it attractive.
