If our sites are having trouble connecting to Jetpack especially with the XML-RPC disabled it should be noted on the backup dashboard, not just some generic message like (You’re all set! Your first backup will start soon).

Make it clear also on the backup dashboard that XML-RPC is required and don’t hide it on your FAQ and support pages.

If the XML-RPC is disabled on-site or it is being blocked by WAF, Jetpack should block the connection to cloud.jetpack.com and notify us that the XML-RPC is needed.

Don’t keep us hanging with your generic messages. Don’t keep us tied in your monopolistic business by requiring the XML-RPC to be enabled on our sites.

I expected this stand-alone plugin to keep us away from the jetpack ecosystem but is a pure disappointment.

This is the first time I have installed a backup plugin after paying that will not let you backup your WordPress site the moment you installed it.

    Hi @desmondgrey

I’m sorry to hear you haven’t had a great experience with the Jetpack Backup plugin so far. We appreciate your feedback, and that has been passed on to our product team so they can look at improving the error messages shown.

Please note that this is v1.0 of the plugin, and we definitely have lots of improvements planned.

If you need more help getting connected, could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread?

    Thanks!
