• I have a suggestion/feature request. When you go to the plugin’s page under Tools, it starts the scan automatically. Could you consider changing that to not start the scan until the user presses a button on that page? The way it is now, it feels broken, because the page doesn’t load fully until the scan is complete.

    Thanks for considering.

  • Sorry to disagree, Scott, but adding an extra step doesn’t feel useful to me. I’m perfectly happy waiting for the scan to complete while the page loads. I think it would be a waste of time to add another click simply to accomplish the same purpose…

@julie: You’re welcome to disagree…it’s merely a suggestion. The author is free to implement or disregard.

The reason I point it out, is that in general with web development, it’s not the best practice to leave a page loading like that unless a user has specifically initiated it.

Scott, I’m wondering if it would be helpful for the scan to report results after each plugin is checked rather than after all have been checked?

That way, you’ll start to see feedback almost straightaway.

Let me know what you think.

    Hi Glen,

Not a bad idea…feedback would be good. Keep in mind too server resource usage if someone just clicks around by accident, not meaning to start a scan. Also, really all actions like that in the admin should be paired up with nonce for security, and require a discreet action such as a button click to start them. (Along with proper user capability checks, etc.) Anything in the admin that can start without a nonce or user_capability check tied to a discreet initiating action, could turn into a security issue down the line. I did see in the code that you check user capabilities so that’s good, but I didn’t see any nonces in there. Anyway, I just wanted to bring it up. I’ll let you sort out the best solution….just wanted to offer my 2 cents. It’s a great plugin though. Keep up the good work.
