Suggestion: Recent revisions vs older revisions

    Great plug-in … thanks!

    Here’s a suggestion: I’d like to see two settings for “number of revisions to keep” rather than just one setting. Here’s what would work well for me:

    Maximum number of most recent revisions to keep per post or page dated since <<enter a date>>: <<enter number of revisions to keep>>

    Maximum number of most recent revisions to keep per post or page dated on or before <<echo date entered above>>: <<enter number of revisions to keep>>

    I would use this new feature to keep all the revisions for the newest posts and delete all the revisions for the older posts. I’d probably set the cut-off date to about a month ago.

    I know this “simple” change would require a lot of programming, but it would be a very useful increment to your plug-in’s functionality.

    AWESOME! This will be very useful to me and to many other people, too.

    I set it to 90 days, and it knocked the size of the database backup for our three-year-old Web site from 54.8 MB down to 20.1 MB. All the revisions for posts older than 90 days seem to be gone (the log says 12,557 revisions deleted) but each post itself still seems to be there. The whole operation took 13 seconds.

    That’s certainly not exhaustive testing, but it certainly appears to work.
