• Hi Keith,
First thanks for making a great plugin even if you decide to cancel it.

But, I’ve read a couple of your responses on it, and it sounds like it’s the amount of support required that has you down, not so much the coding/development – correct me if i’m wrong.

If so why not just keep releasing the plugin but clearly state no support is provided/use are your own risk as part of the download terms?

Personally I don’t see why users can’t support themselves using this forum as well. You could clearly state you don’t provide support and that users are responsible for supporting themselves. Therefor you would be free to just focus all your energy on coding and leave the users to answer their own questions.

Heck, you could even allow donations as well, but clearly state that the donation is to fund future coding NOT SUPPORT.

Obviously it’s your choice but it just seemed to me that having a no-support policy is an alternative to just shutting down all development.

    Thanks again either way!

  • It’s pretty much implied that support for anything here is voluntary. And that anything you use here, you use at your own risk. Some users just don’t get it or they read blogs where a plugin should only be used or is considered worth while if the author provides 24/7 support.

    True Mickey..

But up until now the author has gone out of his way to help people, reading his blog.
And reading his FAQ it implies support will be provided such as “I have found a bug

Please report it NOW. I fill try to fix it and incorporate the fix into the next release. I try to respond quickly to bugs that are possible to fix (all others take a few days). “

The above implies he is willing to help you.

But i’ve seen other plugins that say in all caps on the plugin homepages “NO SUPPORT IS PROVIDED FOR THIS PLUGIN. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.”
It sends a very clear tone difference :)..

Obvoisly he will still get an occasional knucklehead but I think if he makes the lanquage change, and doesn’t provide support on the forum, many people will get the message.
