yes please add this feature.

E.g. in case autofill is active in the browser the password will be stored visible for everyone, which is a huge security risk. Please store the password encrypted in the database.

PLEASE do this! Major security oversight.

How does this plugin store password in database ?
is it storing as a text string or some secured way like MD5 ?

You can set a constant in your wp-config file if you do not want the password stored in the DB like this:

define('WPMS_SMTP_PASS', 'your_password_goes_here'); // SMTP authentication password, only used if WPMS_SMTP_AUTH is true
