• Hello, first congratulations and thank you for this plugin.

I find that it would be even better if it were possible to make the choice ourselves in forms (and not the user) of the selection choice. For example: List of members having only the role of “author”, by adding at the end of the line a field of “forcing the value of the field” with “author”, so in this example I will select only “author” (myself … and not the users on the post).
This addition would be a real improvement for your plugin !

With this hope for your next version :))
    Best regards.

    Hello lse26100,

Probably what you need can be achieved in a different way, for instance by setting default values for your search fields, or hidden filters for your search results.

Please let me know your use case, and I’ll be glad to suggest a solution.

    Hi Andrea,

It is really very nice to offer to help me because I have been trying for weeks without success to just get the display of the list of filtered members on a value that I would have predetermined.
For information I do not know and do not know how to install php code (but yes, I can put it in a snippet and activate it).

My request is simple, and the solution would be simple if I knew how to set a default value ! … but i don’t see where it’s possible to dot that …

Here is my request, as already described in my first “ticket”:
I would like to display on a page the filtered list of members for those who have the role of “Author” for example; but I don’t want this choice to be made by users, but set before the display by me.

    Can you help me ?
    Thank you in advance.
    PS: (I’m French).

    Hi Lionel,

You can create a directory of Authors with this shortcode:

    [bps_directory role=Author]

Then you can use this Author directory as the target directory of your search form.

    Hello Andrea,

All my gratitude for your answer and really simple solution. When I think I have tried so hard to do this! …

There is just one thing missing to make my presentation perfect on this page : I would like to display just a few words above the list of members as a title.

In this example it would be “List of members with author role”; in order to properly inform the members of this filter list …

Do you have a simple solution to do this, without having to use code and modify php in BuddyPress ?

Thank you so much for your help.
    Best regards.

    Hello Lionel,

The only simple way is to change the title of the page to “List of Authors” or something like that.

Otherwise you have to modify the BuddyPress directory template, and in this case you could read the relevant sections in:
