Suggestion: allow fetching from public groups/pages

I’m not sure what you mean by “authenticate with an app ID & secret instead of logging in personally?” Filling in an app ID/secret & logging in are two distinct concepts. Even if the plugin were written so that each site owner had to create their own app & configure it with the plugin by entering its ID/secret (instead of just using the FPFv2 app, which has already gone through the FB review process & can already request user_photos), someone would still have to login and grant access to their photos for it to be able to fetch them…?

Group photos is a feature that I’d had even in the earliest versions of this plugin – until Facebook broke it, I re-implemented, and they broke it yet again. While I do eventually plan to re-add it, after the 2nd time Facebook broke it I had to cut my losses for the time being.

The next time I come round to adding new features to this plugin, that is right at the top of my list (See FAQ9: https://www.justin-klein.com/projects/facebook-photo-fetcher/#faq9)

I’m not even really sure where I was going with this. Except that with the other apps I’ve been testing in searching for this feature don’t require me to log in as myself. I guess it is relevant because “group photos” are what I’m trying to achieve. I didn’t know about the FB issues with Group photos…. though that probably explains why the previous plugin I was using stopped working.

I have a few plugins myself, so I completely understand needing to cut losses on free software. ??

Yeah, maybe it’d be possible only for fetching public group photos – that could be. Groups were always sort of an afterthought to personal & fanpage, so I hadn’t really approached it from that angle ??

Well the updated code that I emailed you does seem to fetch the group album (yours probably did too since I didn’t change the “fetch” function at all. I’m not sure if that is because I am also an admin of the group or not, but I was just trying to “unbreak” some 3 year old blog posts and kind of need to cut my own losses too. ?? Plus, I’m supposed to launch their redesign today.

Cool. Facebook changes/breaks/unbreaks things all the time, so it’s entirely possible. Will have a look when I get a chance.
