• Hey, I want to make a suggestion for a pretty essential feature that I didn′t find to be implemented into the plugin settings yet.
I would greatly appreciate it if I, as the admin of the site, would have the option in the plugin settings to remove the option to subscribe to all replies from the dropdown. This way, website visitors could either not subscribe to comments, or subscribe to replies to their own comments. But not to all comments.
Websites that are getting lots of comments on their pages could save on having to send out massive amounts of emails with this option. And I believe this should be pretty easy to implement (I can′t code, though, so my opinion is not really significant here xD) and be beneficial to lots of plugin users.

Could this be implemented in the future? Or can I remove the option to subscribe to all comments by adding a snippet maybe? Hope to hear back ??

    Hi @todama

For a singular subscription type (only replies or only all comments) there’s the checkbox instead of a select field.

In WP admin > StCR > Comment Form, set the “Advanced Subscription” to “No” which makes it a checkbox and only one type of subscription.

Above the “Advanced Subscription” option is the “Default Checkbox Value” option and that’s where you can set if it should be “Replies” or “All”.

Thanks for the quick answer! But from what I understand, I′d have to have the checkbox checked by default for your solution to work. I would need the visitor to see the checkbox unchecked by default, though, and give them the option to check it if they want to subscribe to replies to their comments (due to GDPR and ePrivacy; consent). It would be awesome if one could chose the value of the checkbox (replies or all) even if it is not checked by default.

    Hi @todama

That’s a little bug on the settings page we’ll fix up, thanks for pointing it out.

The option does go away but it “remembers” the value.

So switch the “checked by default” to yes, save the changes, when the page reloads the “default checkbox value” option shows up, select “replies” and then switch “checked by default” to “no”.

Ok, good to know ?? I was a little confused because when I switch to “checked by default” and save, select “replies” and save, switch “checked by default” back to no and save, and then switch “checked by default” back to yes and save, “all new comments” is shown to be selected again, even though I had just changed it to “replies”.
