• Hi,

I have the version 2.7.1 installed long ago in 3 domains, it was working perfectly without any interruption till day before yesterday. When I tried to access the blogs yesterday both admin and frontend got stucked for admin I cant access eventhough typing the correct login credentials. I have tried to overcome this by changing the password from PHPMyAdmin using MD5 that also failed its not recognizing the admin email id also.

I have no clue what was happened suddenly, is there any issues in 2.7.1 after the release of 2.8.1?

Please help me to resolve this issue.

    Thank you,
    Regards,

    Harris

  • What error do you get when you try to login? Have you tried renaming the plugins folder via FTP?

I have upgraded to 2.8.1 still have the same problem, Login does’nt work even after fresh installation. Please give me a clue.

I have this same problem. I was running fine. I think then I applied the 2.8.1 upgrade. Now front end is still working but I can’t get in backend. When I try to go to wp-admin page I usually get a blank screen. Sometimes I get to the login page but it won’t take my username and password.

How do we get past this?

Try renaming the plugins folder via FTP. If that doesn’t work, use PhpMyAdmin to amend the wp_options table.

Ok – I renamed the folder and that allowed me to get to the backend but now what? All my plugins are disabled.

Re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Do I create a new ‘plugins’ folder and copy the plugin folders from the renamed folder back into the new plugin folder one by one? Or do I have to reinstall all the plugins new (which would then require going back through all the settings for each plugin)?

Can I roll back the wp upgrade and just get it working again that way?

Create a new ‘plugins’ folder and copy the individual plugin folders from the renamed folder into the new plugin folder one by one. Activate each plugin and re-test the blog thoroughly before copying the next plugin over.

GD Star Rating is the plugin causing the problem.

mharrisr – do you use that plugin?

Any other good options for that star rating capability instead of GD Star Rating?
