• I have been using WP-Mail-SMTP for several years without incident. Suddenly the system is not sending emails. I then went to the WP-Mail-SMTP settings page and tried a manual test email. Received a Bool (False) and this SMTP debugging output: “SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. (10060)”

    Since I made no configuration changes to explain the new behavior I then decided to update to the latest plugin update for WP-Mail-SMTP (ver 0.9.1) and received the same message as above upon testing the email.

    I know that the outgoing mail server is still functioning because I am sending emails normally through my desktop email client using the same host, port, and authentication options as before.

    Can anyone help me understand what has changed here and make things work like they used to?
    Appreciate if you can help explain and fix.

    Follow Up: I’ve checked with mail server ISP and all is normal from that end. Also upgraded WP to 3.5.1. Also tried several different port numbers that are known to be open with server ISP. Emails still not being sent although bool(true) now. Still not able to connect with SMTP server.

    I was able to get it to work with 2 or 3 test comments/flagging messages and then it suddenly stopped 1 minute later.

    using gmail email account.

    using wordpress 3.5.1
