• Suddenly yesterday, several of my readers began telling me they could not access my website. Specifically, they were people trying to use links I had posted on the companion facebook group. They were saying, ‘i can’t get it to load” and ‘i can’t get it to open’ and some showed me what they saw instead, such as:”website not available” and “this site can’t be reached”. I asked and many/most/possibly all said they were using androids. Some mentioned using chrome. I’m not thinking its facebook, because i asked a couple of them if they reach my website independently and they said no. I will check with my webhost also, but wonder if anyone here has experienced something similar and has any ideas? This has never happened before. I must fix it / get it fixed and i’m at a loss. Thank you in advance.
I am using WordPress 4.3.6 Default theme. Here: https://www.lewiscountysirens.com

  • Yeah, something is definitely up. Site just sits there and I never get anything back. Using Firefox in Win 7 Pro. I can get to https://www.lewiscountysirens.com/readme.html immediately so it’s something with the blog and not the server per se.

If you are able to get into the back-end, might start disabling plugins.

I tried to reload the page and started getting content. Will see what happens.

Looks like it might be related to this image. I stopped the site loading and Firefox had this in the console:

    19:33:00.927 Image corrupt or truncated. 1 2016.1217.westoakviewhouse9152.jpg

Well, after another try, the page loaded fine. So, nothing is wrong with the file itself. Perhaps the server is being over-loaded? Might check with the host to see what the CPU usage is like.

Mark, thank you for that. I got rid of that photo and it seems to have made a difference for one person. Maybe related. But I’ve still got a dozen people telling me they cannot bring up my website, even when they clear their cache. So something is still not right.

Very important for security: update to WordPress 4.7

Opens fine for me in Serbia… check .httaccess or some security plugin you have, it could be that the plugin wrote to .httaccess ip range ban. Try to rename .httaccess via FTP and see what happens when wordpress generetes new one.

    Best of luck
