• I think I was just updating my plug-ins and now my home page is messed up. I am using Twenty Fourteen with a grid layout and the latest blogs. Ugh I don’t know how to fix it or revert back to an older saved copy of my blog. I don’t know how to undo whatever it is I did to mess up my home page. And everything had been going so well…

  • Hey, Zenner!

First of all, take a deeeep breath and relax. ??

Next, do you know how to FTP to your site? If so, do so and go to the wp-content folder and rename the Plugins folder to something else. Check the site and see if it comes up. If it does, great! You have a bad plugin (or more). If that’s the case, rename the Plugins folder to its original name (Plugins) and rename all the plugin folders, except one. Try your site. If it works, rename another one. Keep doing that till you find out which one broke your site. Delete that folder, and look for an alternative plugin. (I’m assuming all you were doing was updating plugins when your site got messed up, yes?) ??

Oh how I wish I did know how to FTP my site.

I will say I deactivated each plug-in separately to see if it would make a difference and it didn’t.

It’s like my home page content has columnized itself into three vertical columns.

Anyway, about the FTP option. Is that File Transfer Protocol?

Yes. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It’s not hard. Download Filezilla from the internet and install it. Then, go do your cPanel, and go to the FTP Accounts in the Files section. Add an FTP user, then click on the Configure FTP link on the right of that user. Download the .XML file it gives you. Now, open Filezilla and click on File, then Import, and use the .XML file you just downloaded from your cPanel. Once this is done, click File, then Site Manager, and you’ll see the entry for your site. Click on it, then click Connect. It’ll ask you for a password, then you should be in!

That being said, if you’ve tried all your plugins, maybe something else got updated? Can you post the link to your site???

    Zenner,

Oh, I see you’re using WP Supercache. Have you cleared your cache lately? Try that before we look at other things. (I like Zen Cache better…)

I deactivated then delected WP SuperCache and installed Zen Cache.

I was on my home page and I think I cleared the cache (there was a prompt at the top of the page to delete cache).

I posted a new blog entry to see what would happen. It showed up on it’s own page, but not on my home page.
