Suddenly I can’t access admin area

  • Hi there. I hope you can help me out with this odd problem.

    I tried to access my login area this morning and the browser just hung on white.

    I can access permalink pages but I can’t get into admin.

    This has me baffled. What sort of thing could be causing this?

  • I had this same problem – getting a 404 when trying to access the admin – and discovered it was because I had an .htaccess file in there. I don’t know how I managed that, but it was prob’ly ’cause I just didn’t pay attention to what I was doing at the time. Renaming the file gave me access. I have 3 other blogs and checked them and found none have an .htaccess file in the wp-admin folder.

    Had me goin’ there for a while. But I am glad I found this topic when I did a search. It gave me some ideas that helped me find the real problem.
