Sudden slow down on site and dashboard

  • Today, my site suddenly slowed to a crawl. I contacted the my hosting company and they said that it was a site specific problem – that it had to do with my plugins or theme taking up too much memory.

    I didn’t add any new plugins or update my theme before the slowdown. I tested the plugin memory use, and the highest use was on plugins and the theme that has been on the site since May – with no problem until today.

    My load times are in the upwards of 10 to 11 seconds.

    Any idea of what the issue could be?

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    If neither of those make any difference, I’d have to say it’s definitely not a plugin or a theme. ??
