Sudden rush of 5 Star reviews?

    I’m still using the old version and waiting patiently for AIOSEO to stabilize and be useable again.

    Judging by support requests, not yet.

    But after loads of one-star reviews because of the problems with version 4, I now see a sudden burst of 5-star reviews for the plugin that is seriously not yet up to standard.

    It makes me wonder about the honesty of these reviews.

    The rollout of version 4, and auto-updating without any chance to backup first was a blunder by AIOSEO.

    It has cost me hours, days, and now weeks to fix the problems caused. But now it’s a five-star plugin?

    Are you serious?

    Hey @bobsled,

    We’re sorry for the inconvenience the new version of the plugin has caused you. We’re actually removing our internal auto-update functionality in the next update, which will be out soon.

    With regard to the reviews we’re getting, those are coming from genuine users that click through a notice that asks them to give us a rating. It only appears after 14 days (and the new version was released on 21 December, 16 days ago).

    But you can understand why I had a concern when you compare support comments.

    I’ll hang in though. Hopefully, I can update with some degree of confidence soon.

    No problem. We definitely dropped the ball with the auto-update stuff so we understand that the people who are affected by it are frustrated. We really try to uphold the highest standards.

    The plugin might auto-update once more because we’re only removing said functionality in the next update (current version still has the code unfortunately), so if it happens again, we’re truly sorry for that. Next update should be out tomorrow EST if all goes well.
