• I’ve just moved a client’s Joomla site to WordPress. The Joomla site used to get 500 + hits a day but ever since the conversion the traffic has dropped to 30 to 40 hits a day. Is it because Google is unable to find some pages or some WordPress issue?

I have moved Joomla site to a subfolder. The WordPress site is https://dubai-car-dealer.com/ and the Joomla site is now at https://dubai-car-dealer.com/joomla/. Hits on Joomla sites are zero now.

The client is irate with me so any advise on what I could differently to restore the original traffic.

Make sure you have set up 301 redirects for any old links so they go to appropriate places on the new site. I like the plugin “Simple 301 Redirects” for that.

“Hits” don’t matter; you want to look at unique visits. What stats are you looking at? Google Analtyics or something else?

Thanks Steve. The customer had Statcounter installed and with hits I mean Page Views. Unique Visitors are half that. Is there any special tricks on doing SEO for WordPress, have installed Yoost. There are hundreds of pages so hard to identify which page links have changed. Am adding tens of pages every day so cannot create a site map to submit to Google yet but when I’m done with the site.
